Father's Fantastic

Wow!!!! That about sums it up. I am so honored and excited to be named as one of Frances Suzanne's Father's Fantastic Five. I had such a great time flipping An's Tinny pattern. I never would have thought that one of my flips would have been chosen as one of the Fantastic Five. There were so many amazing entries this month.

Here is an updated picture of the flip. It was Cici's back to school dress. And she loved it.

I want to thank Frances Suzanne for hosting such a awesome series. I am ready for my next flip and counting the minutes until they announce what the September patterns will be. Yep that is right PATTERNS. This month there is going to be more than one pattern to flip. It is going to be from the lovely ladies of Pattern Anthology. I can not wait to see what they have up their sleeve! Hop on over to Frances Suzanne tomorrow and check out what we will be flipping. It is sure to be fun!

My Tinny Flips--- Flip Two

FLIP TWO

Big sister needed a back to school dress. She is going into second grade. So she was slightly sized out of the Tinny pattern in length. However the size 6 bodice worked perfectly. So I took the Tinny pattern and went to work.

I knew that I wanted to keep most of the options that I love from the Tinny but make it an a-line style. I used the bodice and added width so that I could create the pleating in the center. I also lengthend the bodice to a full a-line dress. I used the open collar and the tulip sleeves. Both fabrics the lavender and the navy are Kona Cotton from fabric.com.

At first I thought the length was a little too long. But I think that it turned out pretty well. And it gives her some room to grow.

I have one more Tinny flip up my sleeve but you are going to have to wait a little while until I reveal that one.

My Tinny Flips--- Flip One

I decided that I was going to attempt Frances Suzanne's Flip this Pattern.  I had grand ideas that I was going to start with the first month E&E bubble shorts. But things come up and some how it did not happen. Not only did the first month go by the second came and went and I did nothing. So I was determined that this time around I was going to make sure that I completed the Flip.

I had two ideas in my head about how I wanted to flip it. Since both of my girls were in need of a new dress I decided to try each one out.

FLIP ONE

Basically all I did for this first flip was to remove the sleeves. So I removed the sleeves and lined the bodice. As for the other options I used the peter pan collar and the gathered skirt.

I love the mustard and grey combo. They grey dot fabric is from Joann's it is from the DS Quilt line and the Mustard is a Kona Cotton from fabric.com. I sewed up a size 2 for the wee one. I probably should have gone down a size it is a little big in the bodice. Oh well better too big than too small. And we can layer it over a t-shirt once it gets cold.
